Three crumbling seaside cottages inherited by 100-year-old George Watkins in 1975 are set to go under the hammer after being in his family since 1885.
The three homes at 4, 6 and 8 Collingwood St, Bronte were transferred to George, described as a “professional engineer” in documents, upon the death of his father, Frederick Septimus Watkins, in 1975.
One of the homes even made it to the big screen: No.8 appeared in the 1978 classic movie Newsfront, directed by Phillip Noyce and starring Bill Hunter, Wendy Hughes and Gerard Kennedy.
Now George’s nephews, Terry and Barry, are set to benefit with the 923 block going up for November 25 auction with a $15m price guide via The Agency’s Bethwyn Richards.
